Dr. Haban's journey in veterinary medicine began at Iowa State University, where he earned his B.S. degree in Animal Science. His thirst for knowledge and dedication to animal health led him to graduate from the prestigious Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine. He is not only a proud member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association but also holds membership in the American Veterinary Medical Association.

One of Dr. Haban's exceptional qualifications is his Fear Free Certification, ensuring that your pet's experience at the clinic is as stress-free and comfortable as possible. His commitment to creating a soothing environment for your furry friends is a testament to his compassion as a veterinarian.

With a comprehensive approach to general practice, Dr. Haban excels in various aspects of veterinary care, including preventative medicine, internal medicine, and surgical procedures. His years of experience, spanning over 10 years in the field, have enriched his ability to address your pet's unique needs with care and precision.

Before joining Companion Animal Clinic, Dr. Haban served the Central Iowa area at Ames Pet Hospital, where he also held the role of Chief of Staff. This experience further honed his skills and solidified his dedication to the community's pets and their well-being.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Haban enjoys quality time with his cherished family. He shares his life with his wife, Allison, his daughter, Cora, his son, Miles, and their beloved dog, Tripp. Dr. Haban's personal interests align with his love for nature, including hiking, fishing, camping, skiing, and various outdoor sports.

Meet Dr. Mark Peters.

Dr. Mark Peters graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 and began his career as a mixed animal veterinarian in Jefferson, Iowa, where he and his wife Carrie raised three children, Kyle, Clayton, and Alexa. He remained in Jefferson throughout his career, treating companion animals and livestock. After selling his clinic to an associate, he is refining his career to solely companion animal medicine and surgery. 

Beyond the walls of the clinic, Dr. Peters is an avid lover of the great outdoors. Whether he is saddling up for a horseback ride, casting a line into a serene fishing spot, venturing into woods for a hunt or hiking amidst the beauty of nature, he finds solace and inspiration in the world outside. 

Dr. Peters’ outdoor pursuits not only reinvigorate his spirit but also enrich his ability to relate to the animals he cares for. This deep connection to nature and his creatures is a driving force in his practice of veterinary medicine.
